I think I has the solution!

I think that this song is referencing how Strong Bad's personality has gotten more friendly over the years, and the people discussing this over french fries believe that this is a chance to make a breakthrough. I also think that Strong Bad is just being an idiot with his reactions. Shining spirits? Eew!

What?

I think this song is just another one of those weird ones, especially because it's a mix of HSR and TMBG. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.111.220.37 (talk) 14:41, 28 September 2009

Lol!

Strong Bad probably is getting the appreciation that he deserves/desires, but does not like the way he is getting it.....

PWNed!

The origin of the opening line, and perhaps even the style...

There's a folksy group called Sun Kil Moon that wrote a song called Admiral Fell Promises. The song has contemplative, soft, thrumming guitar patterns and the opening line, "Come out from the burning fire, butterfly." -- the overall purple poetry of Crystal Fortress is mirrored in a great deal of Admiral Fell Promises' lyrics, in-fact.

While the song didn't get a studio recording until 2010 (two years after the song's recording), the song was recorded for a live album called [White Christmas Live] back in 2001, which would fit the chronology. Considering how the Johns champion a lot of up-and-coming artists, there is a chance they were inspired by a performance of this song.
