Though the song was not written by either John, it is in the true spirit of TMBG -- a wry observation about the quirkiness of the human mind... in this case the way that people choose beliefs based on their sympathies. The assassination of JFK has always been fertile ground for conspiracy theorists and cranks. Here, the hick narrator is convinced that Oswald is innocent -- after all, he is a friend -- and that a photo implicating him has been doctored. Nevertheless, she knows that Jack Ruby (whom she despises) is Oswald's killer because she saw the evidence on "my TV". --Nehushtan 22:50, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
