Interpretation 2[edit]

I'd like to point out that "Napoleon of the stump" means that James Polk conquered the election from his porch --- drworm818

The cycle of life and death[edit]

I dunno guys, I think maybe in this song James K. Polk is really an elaborate metaphor for the cycle of life and death... like if you think about it, "The Napoleon of the Stump", death comes and conquers (hence Napoleon) leaving you dead like a stump.
