Interpretations:Dig My Grave

From This Might Be A Wiki

If I had to guess, I'd say this is about the narrirator wanting to kill someone they hate. St.Peter, and angels have both been known to tell people to kill demons. the DIG MY GRAVE is the other person's line, not the singers, so he's tempted to murder. -chapmanbobby

St. Peter guards the gates of heaven, so the line "every time I look in your eyes I see St. Peter wave" could mean that the narrator sees his own death in those eyes. The next verse implies virtually the same thing--he hears the angels (death) beckoning him when the other person calls his name. I don't think it goes any deeper than the narrator singing about an enemy that wants him dead.

I think it's even a parody of other heavy metal songs. In those songs, the singer believes that he will triumph, and so the other person should dig his own grave (metaphorically). In this song, however, the singer believes that he will lose the fight, and asks for the other person to dig his grave (metaphorically, by killing him, and possibly literally). It's a reverse of the normal cocky pattern in these types of songs.

Sounds to me like he's about to get his ass kicked. Because when he looks into the guy's eyes he sees St. Peter. When the guy says his name he hears the angels singing. Probably an exaggeration on how much the guys going to hurt him. Or, possibly a vicous girlfriend.

I don't think it's a vicious girlfriend, but I do think it's sung to a girl rather than a guy ("every time I look in your eyes..."). I don't think it's about anyone specifically out to whup his ass or do him physical harm, I think it's more of an unsettling feeling. Another Twlight Zoney lyric. He perhaps feels trapped and suffocated in his relationship.

It's funny, until I read all of these interpretations, I always thought this was a twisted love song. -Salioshy
