I am a wiki user. I like TMBG. What else is there to know?
(Also, this page was originally created as a test to see what time zone the wiki is using. Apparently it's using UTC.)
Anyhow, I like Cheekface and some Lemon Demon as well. I've also been getting into Jonathan Coulton and Chumbawumba beyond the one song everyone knows. There's also this really obscure guy called Wally Pleasant I found who is from the "East Lansing, Michigan" scene.
Tagline Etiquette: A Rant In a Tagline[edit]
Context[edit]
This tagline was created in response to a time when tagline vandalism and people putting up their taglines too early was painfully frequent; I put my thoughts in an HTML comment in my tagline that wouldn't render on the main wiki page but would be prominently visible in the wikitext when someone edited the tagline. The issue has reduced since we limited tagline changes to registered users.
I have archived this tagline here for its write-up on wiki tagline etiquette, which is a good summary of my philosophy on the subject. Should this ever become a big problem again, feel free to wield the comment.
Tagline[edit]
Now listen all you users, don't you rush the taglines off / I know wiki see, but wiki said, for you it would be wrong / Put a message in my talk page, you'll only hear this song / And it won't be fun for long
<!-- PLEASE READ BEFORE EDITING THE TAGLINE
This tagline is to point out an issue: certain users I could name are editing the tagline too early. I assume the best intentions; they've got a great tagline and they're so excited they missed the notices telling them to wait. The bottom line is a tagline may be great, but no tagline is so great that another good faith tagline deserves to lose time on the wiki.
These are the ONLY REASONS you can/should edit a tagline when the red "the tagline is younger than 24 hours" notice is above the edit box:
- Fix grammatical/style issues with the tagline (without changing the content)
- Slightly improve the tagline (like, a single extra wiki-related pun, not a total overhaul)
- Get rid of taglines that have nothing to do with the wiki subject (And BE VERY SURE - do your research to rule out any relation to They Might Be Giants)
- Revert obvious vandalism
Additionally, if the tagline is ACTUALLY OLDER THAN 24 HOURS BUT THE NOTICE STILL SHOWS (This happens because the tagline may have had minor edits), you are within your right to edit the tagline as normal.
Thank you for your time. Happy editing! -->
