A quick review[edit]
I ordered this book from the TMBG store out of curiosity. It was absolutely fun going through the setlists and admiring the doodles and other interesting things that had been used as setlists in lieu of actual paper. I really enjoyed looking through it!
It's not perfect, though: There's no textual "meat". There's no introduction, no stories of the collection of these setlists. The setlists aren't all-inclusive, either. I attended two concerts in the period the book covers and neither of those setlists were in it. While the book covers 1997-2009, there are only 7 playlists from 1997-1998.
I do not in any way list these shortcomings as a slam to the authors hard work, though - it's just a review for those who are curious about the book. (And to be COMPLETELY fair, they've authored more books than I have!) It's just that some text explaining which playlists were included and how they were included would have buffered the lack of many shows a little.
All that being said - this was still very much an enjoyable book, and I don't feel like my money has been wasted. As an art book, it was great paging through the playlists, seeing the shorthand TMBG uses, the doodles, the quirks. It's a great addition to your collection of TMBG stuff.--Pittsburghmuggle (talk) 13:21, 5 July 2023 (EDT)
