Talk:Recommendation Grid
3/28/04: Does REM count? I haven't listened to them in some time, but I hear that they take Alternative a lot more seriously than TMBG does. Random
April 2, 2004: My vote is yes, but their seriousness was ultimately their weakness, in my opinion. Still, their time spent on top qualifies them for inclusion. --Flux
April 12, 2004: OK, adding them now.
April 21, 2004: I would also recommend Violent Femmes and Tom Lehrer --N8dawg
May 18, 2004: Dude, The Femmes are SO in. I added them. They were my first exposure to what would become known as "punk rock." I saw them live at the Benton County fairgrouds in 1984, and the fans broke the stage. Until I discovered TMBG just recently, I had always thought there would never be another group which could express such abject cynicism with such catchy optimism, beating evil at its own game, so to speak. Imagine my joy when I discovered their participation in Flansburgh's "Hello" project, proving that my appreciation wasn't just random, but universal! --Flux
May 18, 2004: Tom Lehrer? He rocks but I don't know if I'd recommend him alongside TMBG. Besides their morbid sense of humor their music doesn't seem to have much in common. Then again, Weird Al and TMBG don't either, so I'll add him.
Pato Fu & Karnak (from Brazil)[edit]
I didn't vote on any band. Just been here to add the brazilian bands Pato Fu and Karnak to the list... though most of people won't ever come to hear about them in their life (specially Karnak, now it's over, though their frontman, AndràAbujamra still composes and play).
Well, they're great odd bands. Pato Fu is more "mainstream" (if this ever applies), but also more rocky. Karnak is really strange and damn melodious. Both bands sings in portuguese, so this will add to yours strangeness points!

Suggestion[edit]
I think it would be a good idea to remove the bands with one or two votes, Since theres alot of bands already and if no one listens to those. - Half Empty 22:59, 5 May 2006 (CDT)
