Talk:New York City
cub + TMBG[edit]
I was looking at the comments on the original video, and I saw that someone said that cub once opened for TMBG. I thought it would be neat for them to do some live performance or some kind of collaboration of New York City. I just thought it would be neat to hear that. --Dunklekuh81
I can't stand this song. I heart NYC as much as the next guy but I think the world has had enough mindless mythologizing of that particular stretch of real estate. It pains me to know that They have joined the apparently never-ending stream of worshipers at the shrine. It's particularly grating to hear the shout-outs for the landmarks, genuflections at the basest tourist traps (though it would be even worse if we had to endure hipster references). Just visiting the place one gets bludgeoned constantly with the omnipresent stupidity of the city's self-congratulation, and I'm sure if I lived there I'd be nauseated by it daily. --Nehushtan (talk) 23:09, 8 September 2013 (EDT)
- have you actually been to a part of new york city that isn't midtown? -Apollo (colloquia!) 23:12, 8 September 2013 (EDT)
- Yup, been to every burrough. I do like the town. It's just the self and mutual back-patting that gets on my nerves. I just noticed this after I posted my rant. --Nehushtan (talk) 23:33, 8 September 2013 (EDT)
- ...okay, i'm not really 100% sure you are talking about a real thing right now. also, the song was written by people from canada! in fact, i'm pretty sure it's supposed to be a bit tongue-in-cheek. but what's wrong with getting excited about a city, anyway? -Apollo (colloquia!) 23:40, 8 September 2013 (EDT)

Years ago (it was at the Beachland Ballroom in 2007) I asked a John did he know the movie New Jack City. He said 'yuss'. So then I asked is New York City a reference to New Jack City he said 'yuss'. So that should be in this article somewhere even if it only is in this paragraph!--WhatTheHeckLinnell (talk) 13:24, 6 November 2018 (EST)
