Talk:Miniature Sidewalk Whirlwind

From This Might Be A Wiki

This new song reminds me of The House at the Top of the Tree. I wonder if it has anything to do with the film, American Beauty.-TDK 11:54, 10 Feb 2006 (CST)

This is amazing. The 'psychedelic album' is here at last! ~ SirDarrell

Amazing song...TMBG has a way of taking everyday things that everyone can relate to and making them beautiful.

I don't see why this is in the "screaming" category, especially under "actual screaming in song".

The narrator's scream of fustration comes at :25. On the lyrics page, it's "Aaaah".
I really don't think that's a scream at all. The ba-ba-ba's sound more aggressive than the "aaah". It's just a lyrical add-in, like "yeah" or "uh huh".

Call me Mr. Insano, but this sounds like it could've been on The Else. --ZippZapp 04:48, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Pure songcraft, front to back, with that inimitable Linnell twist. It will never be in the great american songbook, but it's exactly what it is and what it should be - something that can't be said for most everything else in music. The fact that TMBG can make this sort of thing seem effortless is why I keep coming back. --Nehushtan (talk) 22:20, 16 February 2018 (EST)

The melody for the lyrics "Trying to pull off the bag while still casually walking" briefly quotes the break in Spanish Flea, the bouncy music used for the old TV show The Dating Game. --Nehushtan (talk) 07:37, 21 February 2018 (EST)

Fantastic song that deserved better[edit]

I just heard this song for the first time the other day and I'm hooked. It definitely would've fit right in on The Else (between Withered Hope and Contrecoup) or Cast Your Pod To The Wind (between Brain Problem Situation and Sketchy Galore). If a podcast era rarities album is ever released, I'd buy it just for this song. It also falls into the pit of songs that have never been performed live, right with some of my other favorites like Broke In Two and Feign Amnesia.
