Fan Recaps and Comments:
Drove for four hours with my brother and friends from Central Kentucky. Because of time zones, arrive quite early. No one wants to go to Hard Rock because still not hungry early in the afternoon. Decide to go pawn shopping. Debate whether person up the street is Flansburgh or his evil twin -- finally hear him speak and see his badge and decide it is him. We catch up to him, and he politly engages us in conversation for about a minute, much longer than any of us expected him to talk to us. Damn he's cool...
Large outdoor venue on the bank of the river downtown. apparently 12,000 people showed up for the free Sister Hazel show a couple weeks ago, I wouldn't be surprised if 10,000+ were at the free TMBG show... First opener = Venus Envy, a local Grrrrl/Funk/Rock/Rap group. Good at what they do, but not particularly my cup of tea. Next up, Joydrop, Alt Rock Grrrl group from Ontario. Liked them, may buy their album -- apparently their song "Beautiful" used to get airplay, but I had never heard it. Finally, John Mayer -- largly acoustic lite rock. He apparently has a following as there were many a 16 year old girl and many frat boys singing along. Good guitar player, but after 2 enegetic acts, kinda boring...
Flans signs autographs at the T-Shirt booth mentions that the next Unlimited is all archive material "from the crypt"...
