UlyssesSGrant:
- This show was at Melkweg, and was my first TMBG show. I believe the stage backdrop was Bob Dylan with a bandaged head (after motorcycle crash). Don't recall much of setlist apart from the 3rd song was Number 3 (so clever!). At one stage, the sound tech called out 'the mouse is out of the house', which I took to mean that the computer with backing tracks had crashed. TMBG invited an audience member to come up on stage and bang a large stick on the stage for the beat until the computer was back.
Preview of the show from NRC Handelsblad, Mar. 22, 1989:
Anyone who calls the New York duo They Might Be Giants at home will hear a new song they wrote themselves every day. The accordion predominates on the LP 'Lincoln' and at the concerts: Rotterdam Nighttown Mar. 22, Amsterdam, Melkweg Mar. 23.
