Carmaig de Forest is a singer-songwriter who opened for They Might Be Giants on several occasions from 1988 through 1990 and once in 1998.

He is best known for his political songwriting and signature ukulele, which has been his main instrument since the start of his musical career. His music has been compared to that of Bob Dylan and his writing to that of Raymond Carver. He has toured in the past with his "loose-knit combo of L.A., New York, and Bay Area musicians" dubbed DeathGrooveLoveParty.[1]

Carmaig is a friend of Gordon Gano of the Violent Femmes, who They Might Be Giants have opened for themselves. Carmaig has opened for the Violent Femmes on multiple occasions and is a frequent collaborator. The Violent Femmes appeared as a guest artist on his album DeathGrooveLoveParty, and Gordon Gano even appeared as part of his backing band. He has also toured with The Ramones.[2]
