Horn section coverage on one of the new pieces and the other one is total awesomeness! Yay! - Whirrrlwind (Woosh!) 18:54, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Lullabye coda

The instrumental bit after Lullabye To Nightmares sounds like it's actually part of the song. An extended jam not included on the Long Tall Weekend version, perhaps? thevince

I think so, especially because of the mention of a trumpet solo in the coda. In the main song body, I don't hear a of a trumpet solo or a coda. Seems to me that that instrumental should be considered an unreleased coda. --Wetreplies 20:21, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

numbering?

Shouldn't this be Podcast 26B? I know it isn't, but I thought the 2 stood for the second year They'd podcasted, 6 for the sixth month of said year, and A/B/C... for how many podcasts there were in the month. I have June 4 for Podcast 26A. -curious and questioning (t) 21:03, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

TMBG's never stated how their podcasts were named. If you look back, there's a handful that don't follow your system of rules properly. -CapitalQtalk ♪ 21:07, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Instrumental

I don't know exactly how to link to it, but on their latest Myspace blog, TMBG lists the song "Tango Distorto" as the last one on the new podcast, so I'm thinking that's the official name of the instrumental at the end. What does everyone else think? ~Drew

awesome

this one was pretty good! For some reason "Decepticons, Ramekins, and Nathans" is one of my favourite things right now. Also, this has some of the most amusing patter yet, but the voice is distracting. :D

Demos.

Is anyone else filled with total glee at the fact that TMBG really does preserve their demos in absolutely perfect and glorious quality? Most of the stuff in this podcast has never been heard by fans before, and though about half of it has been bootlegged/leaked (but not widely traded), it was never anything greater than about third-generation cassette quality. And not only that, but this single podcast is pretty much more comprehensive than any single component/month of TMBG Unlimited, and that was a monthly pay service. This is FREE. Unbelievable. All I can say is, I hope that in the future more and more demos and things like this are officially released by the band. Maybe in a CD box set or something. Brilliant!

Gigantic idea to release the John Henry Demos in a Podcast. The synthetic speech sounds like they used the Bell Labs Demo Page.

It seems that you're absolutely correct, Pat appears to be voiced by "Audrey .... UK English". Copying and pasting a blurb from the Podcast page into the box produces the same audio used in the podcast, with just some minor discrepancies (the setup is tweakable). I hope they read the policy section of the FAQ first, though: "Any use that involves wide distribution or long lifetime is probably not OK, whether or not it is commercial. Audio clips used in songs, videos or game levels cannot be made publicly available on the internet." -CapitalQtalk ♪ 15:37, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
I would imagine they did speak with someone before distributing the material. If not, we had better save this podcast and bootleg it lol --UsernameDot 16:19, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

An offer?

"This next track, I Should Be Allowed To Think, quotes the opening lines of beat poet Allen Ginsberg's "Howl". The poet graciously gave permission for the band to quote the poem, and in a gesture that hearkens back to a simpler time, asked for nothing in return. It is my sincere wish that the Might Be Giant song I Should Be Allowed To Think be used as the theme music to an American-style chat show. It would be exciting. I love hearing the music of Ain't They Giants on television."

This sounds like It Might Be a pay-it-forward offer to allow license-free use of the song for a talk show. -- Amyloo
