Fan Recaps and Comments:

Session on Andy Kershaw's BBC Radio 1 show, recorded on January 18, 1990, and broadcast on February 4. Rather than a traditional live performance, this session is comprised of new studio recordings created at the BBC. The session was produced by Dale Griffin.

From the 1950s through the 1980s, rights agreements limited how much commercially released material could air on the BBC. To get around this rule, it was common for musicians to quickly re-record their material at the BBC's studios before broadcast — a practice that continued into the 1990s even after the restrictions were eased. This set is one example of such a session. The band also recorded a similar session for Kershaw's show that aired on April 30, 1989, though no recording of it is known to circulate online.

This set is comprised of songs that the band typically performed live without backing tape accompaniment. The tracks differ significantly from their album versions, featuring stripped-back arrangements with a few overdubs. The band recorded six songs but only four are known to have been broadcast. These recordings of "Particle Man" and "Where Your Eyes Don't Go" were officially released on Podcast 33A in 2008.
