Talk:Los Angeles
Should we move this page to Los Angeles since TMBG keeps calling the song that? -Ecks
- Perhaps the live Venue Songs track could remain Hollywood and the new studio track for the Venue Songs DVD/CD set could be called Los Angeles. It's going to end up having a separate page (probably at Los Angeles (Studio)) anyways.
What's with the accent?
Has anybody noticed the British accent in this song? It seems obvious to me. Also, in the video, the two bands are "The Lads" and "The Blokes," which are definitely British-y names. Is it meant to be a comment on how people always rip from British bands? No idea.
- I believe it's to imitate the Beatles, as the riff sounds Beatle-y, along with the accent. The dudes in the music video resemble the Beatles as well. -JasonDeLima 01:53, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
First played after it was released?
I believe it was first played here: http://tmbw.net/wiki/Shows/2004-08-18 although there's no set list on that page. Perhaps I'm incorrect? Or maybe there has to be a setlist for it to register on the page? I'm too tired to figure anything out right now (late-night relabelling of my Venue Songs tracks to include dates, both titles, soundcheck/live, city, and state/province) but I figured I should mention the strangeness. --The Almighty Doer of Stuff 02:36, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
- I think you're correct, since that show's in the middle of a constant line of shows where they came up with venue songs. We could add West Hollywood to the setlist to make things right. ~ magbatz 17:37, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Beatle-y for sure...
...but to me it most resembles Soft Boys-era Robyn Hitchcock. (They opened for him at least once.) Try Kingdom of Love or The Queen Of Eyes, for instance. --Octoflange 06:05, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
