Talk:Stump The Band

From This Might Be A Wiki

If someone wants to clean this up, please do. It's purely based on what i've heard in hearsay about it. --Duke33 21:52, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, thanks for making the page. I'm wondering if there's a good way to include The Semi-Canonical Stump-the-Band List put together in 1993, which I'm sure is the one of the only reasons any of us know what songs got played when. ~ magbatz 22:23, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

I don't know if anyone would consider this relevant to mention but Stump the Band was a recurring bit on the Tonight Show in the 70's and 80's. -- Sonderling (talk) 19:58, 24 December 2015 (EST)

Very relevant! It's a cultural touchstone for people in the John's generation. Letterman and Paul Schaffer used to do it for nostalgia, explicitly stating that they "stole" it from Carson's show. But the biggest thing about the bit is that it's a showcase for how versatile & quick the band is. Doing it is kinda of a boast... the band is patting itself on the back. --Nehushtan (talk) 01:04, 22 July 2019 (EDT)
