Mocking anti-trans sentiment?[edit]
I think about this song a lot. It's a favorite of mine, but I never hear anyone discuss it, particularly what it means. To me, it sounds like it's sung from the point of view of someone who has a problem with men who present as women, perhaps protesting too much. With heavy Brooklyn/Jersey accent applied, I wonder if John's presenting an overheard conversation (or several) at their 80s performance art gigs, where I've heard Flans mention that there were some "transgender acts". It this song just too obscure for anyone to be talking about, or is this read so obvious that nobody's bothered?
