Talk:Mailing List Archive

From This Might Be A Wiki

I like the idea of having an archive of the e-mails, and will continue adding ones from my colelction, but does anybody know how friendly the Johns would be to the idea? Would it be stepping on their toes, or helping to spread the word? Presumably they might like the added urgency of getting Their message into people's inboxes, not to mention the ability to tell record labels and the lie 'we have X many people on our mailing list.' Perhaps to keep this from cutting into their list we should impose a waiting period of a couple of weeks before posting a new mailing? Or am I just worrying too much? - GersonK

Yeah, probably. :) However, I think you raise a valid point. I'd say a wait of even a few days is sufficient to take the edge off the urgency of the original mailing. --SR

Unless I'm mistaken, I Blame You had an archieve, and I don't believe anyone got upset. Am I right? - Mr. Nuclear

TMBAB Archive[edit]

I've thrown together some scripts that allows me to import old emails, and post them here. If anyone has any of the pre-2002 emails that we don't have here, let me know. I should be able to import them rather easily now!--Duke33 20:39, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Email images[edit]

There was a short time last night that I noticed the images in the emails were not loading. This made me wonder if we should have them here on the wiki. I doubt that whoever is running the band's website is concerned about images used in 10 year old email messages, so presumably they could disappear at any time. Does anybody have any thoughts on this? If we decide to upload them all would anyone be interested in helping me with that? — ACupOfCoffee (talk) 12:13, 27 September 2015 (EDT)

MailChimp archive includes IFC newsletter[edit]

I was hoping the band's recent switch in email marketing companies would provide me with some properly coded HTML for a change. It's way worse, but on the other hand we've been given this page. It looks like it's going to be automatically archiving emails, including ones for the Instant Fan Club. I'd post them here if I didn't think this is likely an oversight and sure to be corrected, but nevertheless they're there. — ACupOfCoffee (talk) 12:53, 24 February 2018 (EST)

slightly off-topic, but just wanted to mention... your continued dedication to the email archive is hugely appreciated! it's a really good thing to have and i'm not sure anyone would be doing it if it weren't for you. —ant 13:19, 24 February 2018 (EST)
