Talk:I Am A Robot

From This Might Be A Wiki

Is it just me, or do both of the voices on this and Type B sound like Flans? It's difficult to be sure for the robot because of the distortion, but the girl really reminds me of his falsetto. ~ blitzente (talk) 23:24, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

I'm of the opinion that the robot is definitely Flans but the little girl could be either of them. Too hard to tell. --BlueCanary
The girl definitely sounds like Flans; it's uncanny. I'd say it's clear enough to put on the main song page. -CapitalQtalk ♪ 10:34, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
Just because I can, here are two mp3s of everything the girl says in the first track: File:I Am A Robot girl unchanged.mp3 and File:I Am A Robot girl pitchshifted.mp3. The second is pitched down by four semitones and it's not completely definitive, but on that basis I'm going to go ahead and add Flans to both pages - does anyone disagree? ~ blitzente (talk) 16:38, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
Very neat. This reminds me - I've been meaning to look at I Love To Sing and I'm Def for Flansburgh (the first is the unknown Jebediah Deeply with live pitch shifting or something often in duet with Robin, and the second is an alleged message on their machine with a sped up whiny flans-y voice. I'll try my hand at it, but - and sorry if this is technologically unsavvy of me - what do you use? ~ magbatz
There might be better options - I'm not technologically savvy either :P - but I like Audacity. Pitch changing only involves a couple of clicks. ~ blitzente (talk) 20:53, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
Ah k. I've messed around with Audacity, but usually I just get lost playing with tools with names I'd never heard of. Time to fiddle around! ~ magbatz 20:59, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
