Talk:Cloisonné

From This Might Be A Wiki

Key Signature?[edit]

I don't think it's C Major. If it were C Major, it would be just all the white keys on a piano, and I can't replicate the bass-line by playing just those. And not to mention, there's an A# in the guitar tab. I have no doubt the root note is C, but I don't think it's C Major. Unless someone can explain this to me. :3 -- Jason DeLima - ! - 22:45, 23 August 2011 (EDT)

Something can be in a certain key without using solely notes from that scale in the song. Songs have more than one chord in them, after all. I mean, some songs modulate in parts too, but I don't think Cloisonne is one of those songs. (Disclaimer: I haven't actually tried playing along to the song myself yet.)
Didn't Flans say on tumblr or somewhere that the original was in C, too? (Since the live version is in D to accomodate the range of the bass clarinet...) -J-Gatz
mixolydian, suckaz. totally C

Official video incoming[edit]

"@tmbg Less than 24 hours until the NEW TMBG video for Cloisonné premiers at RollingStone.com. Directed by JF and starring TMBG in the studio." --Nosaj56 15:20, 18 September 2011 (EDT)

Am I the only one who thinks the live version from the video is way better than the one on the album? -BLT
^^ I agree with you entirely, BLT. I was so excited to hear that they re-recorded it in D for the music video! :D -- Jason DeLima - ! - 15:57, 19 September 2011 (EDT)

Video Version[edit]

I think we need a page for the video version of this song. What does anyone else think? What would we title it? --Duke33 10:22, 20 September 2011 (EDT)

Cloisonné (Video Version)? Cloisonné (Alternate Version)? SamuelMan36 10:36, 20 September 2011 (EDT)
I think it would be good to go with something like "Cloisonné (Live In Studio)", but maybe that's not right. "Video version" is probably more appropriate, but also kind of lame. "Alternate" also seems too general. BUT i don't know. -Apollo (colloquia!) 17:07, 20 September 2011 (EDT)

New video[edit]

A new video for this song was posted on TMBG's Facebook page today. It shows the rough footage of the in-studio video. Watch it on Youtube.png --MisterMe (talk) 08:16, 6 May 2013 (EDT)

Here's another video: the isolated vocals for the studio version. It's neat to hear it without all the sound effects behind Flansburgh. Watch it on Youtube.png --MisterMe (talk) 10:26, 4 November 2015 (EST)
The "vocal only" version should probably have its own article because it's not the same thing - Flansburgh does a vocal version of the horns after the lyrics end. --Flicky (talk) 18:32, 6 January 2018 (EST)

It's quite creepy just the vocal. (Mr Tuck)
