- Spin The Dial is a live-show favorite. JF will turn on the Tivoli Henry Kloss Model One radio and tune across the spectrum, stopping to see what's playing. More often than not, members of the band will start playing along to the music instantly, while John Flansburgh sings along. At this point, one of two things can happen:
- the band picks up the tune and plays along, making a rocking version of the original song
- the band plays along, but takes the song in a totally new, and usually humorous, direction. (See Werewolves Of London (Wearing A Hockey Mask))
- In either case, the sound crew will usually fade out the radio while the band explores the new song. Spin The Dial gives the talented band members a chance to show off their musical abilities, as well as the genius of Flansburgh's instant lyric creation powers.
