FLANSBLOG 9000 from the buttoned-down desk of John Flansburgh

"Happy Monday everyone! John Flansburgh here. This is an incredibly busy time for us! We know this is something many of you already know, but TMBGs music was featured last week on American Idol. Yes, American Idol. They played a bit of our song "No!" during their always entertaining, profoundly strange audition process. Yes. We have all seen that show. But it is exciting in the abstract to know so many millions and millions are hearing TMBG-maybe even Paula Abdul. Crazy, man.

So, we're getting ready for the big Beacon show on Saturday. We'll be performing "Hey Mr. DJ" for the very first time, which we are all psyched about. We are sooooo close to being sold out it's killing us (and maybe it's "gone clean" by now-who knows) but for the last two weeks it's felt like we have exactly 2550 fans in the New York area! When will they tell their 100 friends who are still on the fence? Maybe Paula could put in a good word for us!

On the family front, we really want to make sure everyone knows what is going on with the weekly video podcast. Not only do the John and John puppets have their own sweet sign off song, there are many improvisational moments we think even the most grizzle adult would enjoy, like this weeks Morrissey-like musical moment as we introduce the brand new video to 813 Mile Car Trip.

There is a radio special with TMBG on XM airing this week at XM 44 (the Fred channel) on a show called "Surface Noise." Some of the live tracks we recorded for them are included on the upcoming TMBG audio podcast, and the sound is pretty killer.

So, back to rehearsing we go!
Peace, or at least like outta Iraq I mean, now!
JF"
