Interpretations:Madam, I Challenge You To A Duel

From This Might Be A Wiki

A Man of Honor[edit]

The singer of this song is a "Man of Honor" and he likes to view himself as a knight, so when this woman insults him he challenges her to a duel, as a gentleman would. When he actually fights her he realizes that he is not as knightly as he once thought, and he wants to stop the duel, but the woman reminds him "the bell can't be unrung" and he can't go back to how it was. He had to duel her, whether he wants to or not.

Fighting Back Mental Illness[edit]

The narrator is challenging the madam which is his mental illness. The madam seems to be a threat to the speaker. He is aware of her, but he falsely believes that he is stronger than her. Her dog represents the problems mental illness causes for the speaker. Since the next song in is End of The Rope, it is hinted that she was too power for the narrator and he was defeated.--Nanobot18 (talk) 15:45, 3 January 2019 (EST)
