 Intro:
 F - Bb -
 F - - -

 Chorus:
     F - Bb -
The sun is a mass of incandescent gas,
     F - C -
 A gigantic nuclear furnace
       F - Bb -
Where hydrogen is built into helium
      F C F / Bb F
At a temperature of millions of degrees.

 |: F Bb F Bb
Yo ho, it's hot - the sun is not
     F - C -
 A place where we could live;
     F - Bb -
But here on Earth there'd be no life
     C F / Bb F  :|
 Without the light it gives.

 |: F Bb F Bb
We need its light, we need its heat,
     F - C -
 We need its energy;
     F - Bb -
Without the sun, without a doubt
         C F / Bb F  :|
There'd be no you and me.

 Chorus

     F Bb
 The sun is hot...

It is so hot that everything on it is a gas. Iron, copper,
         aluminum, and many others.

     F Bb
 The sun is large...

If the sun were hollow, a million Earths could fit inside. And
yet, the sun is only a middle-sized star.

     F Bb C
 The sun is far away...

About 93 million miles away - and that's why it looks so small.

 |: F Bb
And even when it's out of sight
     C F / Bb F  :|
The sun shines night and day.

 |: F Bb F Bb
The sun gives heat; the sun gives light -
     F - C -
 The sunlight that we see;
     F - Bb -
The sunlight comes from our own sun's
 C F / Bb F  :|
 Atomic energy...

Scientists have found that the sun is a huge atom-smashing
machine. The heat and light of the sun come from the nuclear
reactions of hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen and helium.

 Chorus:
     F - Bb -
The sun is a mass of incandescent gas,
     F - C -
 A gigantic nuclear furnace
       F - Bb -
Where hydrogen is built into helium
      F C F / Bb F
At a temperature of millions of degrees.

ok, i'm still asking for help on this, but i mad some progress last night:

the sun is a mass of incandescent gas, a gigantic nuclear furnace

E -9--11--9--9------------8------------------------------9---11--9-
B --------------11--9--11---11--9-------------9--9--9-10-----------
G ----------------------------------11--10-11----------------------
D -----------------------------------------------------------------
A -----------------------------------------------------------------
E -----------------------------------------------------------------

where hydrogen is built into helium at a temperature of millions of degrees

E --9---11-11-9--9-----------------------------------------------------------
B -------------------11---9-9--11-9----------9--9--9---9---11--11--9---9-----
G ---------------------------------11-11-11-------------------------------11-
D ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
A ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
E ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

any suggestions? i haven't worked on the intro yet.

thanks,

Here's me nit picking on a revised version of Nathan's. It's a bit sketchy right now.

E -9--11--9--9-------------------------------------------9---11--9-
B --------------11-----9-11-9---?-------------9--9--9-10-----------
G -----------------11---------------11--10-11----------------------
D -----------------------------------------------------------------
A -----------------------------------------------------------------
E -----------------------------------------------------------------

E --9---11-11-9--9---------------------------------------------------------8-
B -------------------11---9-9--11-9----------9--9--9---9---11--11--9---9-----
G ---------------------------------11-11-11----------------------------------
D ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
A ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
E ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next verse is almost like this:

E -11--9-------11--9-------11-9------------
B -------11--9-------11--9-----11--9-----9-
G ------------------------------------11---
D -----------------------------------------
A -----------------------------------------
E -----------------------------------------
But that seems too simple.

Ok, this is pretty rough but it sounds good. The rythum in this is bad
if not completely wrong, so ignore it.

The sun is a mass...
|---------------------------------------------------|
|-1--3--1-1---------------------------------1-3-1---|
|------------2---0-2-0-------------------2----------|
|--------------3--------3--0-----3--3-3-------------|
|----------------------------3-3--------------------|
|---------------------------------------------------|

Then vary the same notes to get the right rythum for the words.

The sun is hot... (again for the sun is large)
|-----------------|
|--3--1-----------|
|-------2---------|
|---------3-------|
|-----------------|
|-----------------|

The sun is far away...
|----------------|
|--3--1----------|
|-------2-0---0--|
|-----------3----|
|----------------|
|----------------|

Then the ending bit, sorry don't know the words.

|-----------------------------------------------|
|------------------------1-1-1-1----------------|
|-------0-2---0-2-3---0-------------------------|
|----3------3---------------------3-------------|
|--3--------------------------------------------|
|-----------------------------------------------|
