From This Might Be A Wiki

Is there any way that this section could be expanded into something more thorough, like lists of exactly which instruments were used on which songs? I'd be really interested in that sort of thing, since I'm seeing a lot of interesting instruments listed on the Johns' pages but I have no idea which songs a lot of those might be on and I often have trouble picking out these kinds of things by just listening to the song (another thought would be which songs use bass guitar and which songs just use synth, etc.)

I'd be no help on something like that probably, so this is just a suggestion. - extrafacelol

Looking for an instrument name[edit]

Ok, does anyone know the name of the thing Linnell would use to play the jumble of sound effects at the end of "Bed Bed Bed"? I believe it is a different thing than the Kaoss Pad (and "Bed Bed Bed" isn't listed as one of the songs on that page), but it's about that size. --Self Called Nowhere 01:47, 4 October 2012 (EDT)

Agreed that it's not a Kaoss Pad. Although a Kaoss Pad was part of Linnell's rig for a while, he was using some type of sound effect trigger on "Bed Bed Bed" for live performances. In the actual recording, the sounds were probably just tracked and not off the device. You can clearly see the device in their Screen Savers performance, in which Linnell claims there is only one in the world.
When asked directly what it's called, they don't have an answer. So, it could be home made. --thevince 4 October 2012

j2 is so totally right (and it wouldn't be the first time linnell got caught with a dr. sample). those who do not trust the judgment of hooligans on the internet can see for themselves: you get a pretty clear view in the video at around 2:50. -Apollo (colloquia!) 13:30, 5 October 2012 (EDT)

Drum machines[edit]

In case anyone is curious, or wants to incorporate these facts into an existing or new page, here is a history of the band's drum machine usage. --MisterMe (talk) 08:14, 13 June 2014 (EDT)
